Strictly Sail Chicago

For the first time in four years we were able to enjoy the sailboat show as real boat owners! We actually were able to talk to people, presenters and vendors without worry of being asked what type of boat we owned! We spent the last three days attending lectures about navigation, how to stay in touch while cruising, night sailing, the Mackinac race (we were just getting the basic information; we would like to enter the race in two or three years!) and tips on different places we are interested in cruising to this summer. When we weren't in sessions we were wandering around the exhibit hall talking with vendors about the things we want/need to buy/upgrade/replace on the boat.   We also picked up some necessities that we'll need to make our first sail when we finally get to put Further in the water! By the time we walked out of the show a few hours ago our brains were overflowing with information and our wallets were a lot lighter.

Now we are even more excited to start our sailing adventures! The only thing holding us back are the three months until we can actually get on the water. This winter is going by WAY too slowly. At least we can start to work on boat projects to help keep us in the sailing mood!

We Bought a Boat!

Our new boat Further!
(Formally named Reverie. Yes we will have to have a renaming
ceremony sometime in the future, all are welcome to join!)

Well, we are one step closer to the dream. We officially bought a boat on November 12! This is both awesome and annoying at the same time since we can't actually sail it until spring. The ultimate bike for Christmas!

We can't wait to get her in the water. Here's to a very short winter!
